About this kit
During the Second World War the M16 multiple gun carriage was a key American anti aircraft weapon, built on an M3 half track chassis between 1942 and 1943. It carried four .50 calibre Browning machine guns in an electrically driven M45 mount that could turn through 360 degrees and elevate from minus 10 to plus 90 degrees. Used against ground targets it was so destructive that troops nicknamed it the meat chopper.
Tamiya's 1/35 kit, first released in 1976, builds the M16 with detailed crew figures posed to show the tension of an incoming fighter attack. Parts are cleanly moulded with crisp surface detail, and the instructions keep the build straightforward for modellers of any experience.
It sits well beside other Tamiya half tracks such as the M3A2 and the M21 mortar carrier, and suits any US Army diorama of the 1943 to 1945 period.
