The Tamiya Sanding Sponge Sheet 180 (87161) is a flexible foam-backed sanding sheet in 180 grit — one of the coarser grades for initial seam removal and surface correction on plastic model parts. The foam backing provides slightly more forgiveness than rigid sanding sticks, reducing the risk of creating flat spots on curved surfaces. At P180 it aggressively removes mould seams, filler peaks, and rough surfaces in preparation for progressively finer grades.
