The Tamiya 1/350 British Battleship Prince of Wales (78011) reproduces one of the Royal Navy's most modern battleships at the outbreak of war — HMS Prince of Wales, the second ship of the King George V class. Prince of Wales has a poignant place in naval history: she was present at the sinking of the Bismarck in May 1941 (when she scored crucial hits on the German battleship), and just seven months later she was herself sunk by Japanese torpedo aircraft off the coast of Malaya — the first time a modern battleship had been sunk by air power alone while at sea and under way.
