The Tamiya 1/48 Vought F4U-1D Corsair (61061) reproduces the fighter-bomber variant of the legendary bent-wing carrier fighter — the F4U-1D that added underwing pylons for bombs and rockets to the Corsair's formidable performance. By 1944 the Corsair had become the most capable carrier-based fighter available to the US Navy, and the 1D's ground attack capability made it the definitive Pacific War strike aircraft. Marine and Navy pilots flew it from carriers and island airstrips alike.
