The Tamiya 1/72 A6M5 Zero Model 52 (60779) reproduces the most-produced Zero variant in the compact 1/72 scale — the A6M5 that formed the backbone of Japanese naval air power from 1943 onwards. Despite being outclassed by the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair in most performance parameters, the A6M5 remained in production and service to the end of the war, with Japanese industry unable to field a superior replacement in time. Its pilots flew with extraordinary courage to the bitter end.
