The Leclerc was the first production tank to feature an automatic loader as standard, allowing it to achieve a firing rate of 12 rounds per minute while keeping the crew to just three men. Its GIAT 120mm smoothbore gun, composite armour, and advanced electronics made it a peer competitor to the best German and American MBTs.
