The Tamiya 1/35 Carro Armato M13/40 Italian Medium Tank (35296) reproduces Italy's principal medium tank of the early war period — the M13/40 that formed the backbone of Italian armoured units in North Africa during the crucial desert campaigns of 1940–43. Armed with a 47mm gun and 13mm armour, it was a competent design by the standards of the late 1930s but struggled against the increasingly capable British and later American tanks it faced.
