Tamiya 1/35 Military - TYPE 61 JAPANESE TANK - 35163

The Tamiya 1/35 JGSDF Type 61 Tank (35163) reproduces Japan's first indigenously designed main battle tank — the Type 61 that entered service with the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force in 1961 and served through to 1999. Designed in the 1950s based largely on American WWII-era tank design philosophy, the Type 61 carried a 90mm rifled gun and represented Japan's return to domestic armour development after the wartime hiatus. It served alongside the Type 74 until the end of the Cold War era.

An interesting and less commonly seen Cold War subject that represents an important milestone in Japanese armour history.
