The Tamiya 1/35 U.S. M1A1 Abrams 120mm Gun Main Battle Tank (35156) reproduces the baseline M1A1 Abrams — the upgraded version of the original M1 that introduced the German Rheinmetall 120mm smoothbore gun, replacing the M68 105mm rifled gun. The M1A1 entered service in 1985 and proved devastating in Desert Storm, where it destroyed Iraqi T-72s at ranges beyond the Iraqis' ability to respond. This kit represents the standard M1A1 without the mine plough or TUSK modifications.
