The Tamiya 1/35 West German Leopard Tank (35064) reproduces the original Leopard 1 — West Germany's first post-war indigenous main battle tank, which entered service with the Bundeswehr in 1965 and went on to serve in over a dozen nations. The Leopard 1 prioritised mobility and firepower over armour, pairing the proven British 105mm L7 gun with a powerful MTU engine that gave it outstanding cross-country agility. It formed the backbone of NATO's armoured forces on the Central Front throughout the 1970s.
