The Tamiya 1/48 Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf.J Sd.Kfz.161/2 (32518) reproduces the final and most-produced Panzer IV variant in the compact 1/48 scale. The Ausf.J introduced production simplifications including the deletion of the electric turret traverse motor, reduction in fuel tank provisions, and simplified skirting — all aimed at maintaining output despite wartime pressures on German industry. Despite these cutbacks it remained a capable gun platform with the 7.5cm KwK 40 L/48 gun.
