The early T-34 shocked German tank crews when they first encountered it in 1941: its sloped armour and powerful 76mm gun outclassed most German anti-tank weapons of the time. Despite supply and training shortfalls, the T-34/76 1941 demonstrated the potential that would ultimately help win the war on the Eastern Front.
