The Tamiya 1/700 Royal Australian Navy Destroyer Vampire (31910) reproduces the HMAS Vampire — the V-class destroyer that served with the Royal Australian Navy during the Second World War. Vampire's most famous moment came on 9 April 1942 when she was sunk alongside the carrier HMS Hermes off Ceylon by Japanese carrier aircraft — the last RN and RAN warships to be sunk in the Indian Ocean theatre. Her Commanding Officer survived to become a legendary figure in the Royal Australian Navy.
