The Tamiya 1/700 USS Saratoga CV-3 Aircraft Carrier (31713) reproduces the Lexington-class aircraft carrier that was converted from a partially-built battlecruiser hull after the Washington Naval Treaty — one of the most influential warship conversions in naval history. USS Saratoga served throughout the Pacific War, surviving multiple torpedo attacks that would have sunk lesser ships, and her air groups played important roles in many of the war's critical operations. She was finally expended as a target vessel in the Bikini Atoll atomic bomb tests in 1946.
