The Tamiya 1/700 USS Bogue CVE-9 Escort Carrier (31711) reproduces the lead ship of the most numerous class of aircraft carriers ever built — the Bogue-class escort carriers (CVEs) that protected Allied convoys and provided close air support across every theatre of the Second World War. Built on merchant ship hulls to keep construction simple and fast, the Bogue class were less capable than fleet carriers but could be produced far more quickly and in far greater numbers — over 80 ships were completed in just three years.
