The Meng 1/35 Sd.Kfz.171 Panther Ausf.D Turret, Travel Mode (SPS-059) is a resin conversion set depicting the WWII German Panther Ausf.D turret and gun shrouded in canvas covers for travel.
The Ausf.D was the first production Panther, rushed into action at Kursk in July 1943. On the move, crews often draped tarpaulins over the turret and barrel against dust and weather. Panthers moving to the front were frequently photographed with covered guns and turrets, and this configuration makes a refreshing change from the usual combat ready build. It suits a rail transport scene, a road march diorama or a vehicle shown resting behind the lines.
