About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/200 USS Pegasus PHM-1 (82005) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of USS Pegasus, the lead ship of the US Navy's Cold War Pegasus class patrol hydrofoil missile boats. It can be built with the foils raised or lowered.
Commissioned in 1977 and armed with Harpoon missiles and a 76mm gun, Pegasus could reach over 40 knots on her foils. The six boats of the class operated from Key West until they were retired in 1993. Hydrofoils lift the hull clear of the water at speed, cutting drag and giving a smoother ride in rough seas, making the Pegasus class some of the fastest warships of their day.
