Hobby Boss 1/72 Military - Russian 9K79 Tochka (SS-21 Scarab) - 82935

The Hobby Boss 1/72 Russian 9K79 Tochka (82935) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Soviet 9K79 Tochka tactical ballistic missile system, known to NATO as the SS-21 Scarab. The kit shows the wheeled, amphibious launcher with its single missile.

Introduced in the 1970s as a more accurate replacement for the FROG rockets, the Tochka served the Soviet Army and its successor states for decades. Each launcher carries a single missile, raised from inside the hull for firing, and the vehicle can swim across rivers. Tochka missiles were used in the Chechen wars and have featured heavily in more recent conflicts. On the shelf, the low six wheeled hull makes a neat contrast with larger eight wheeled Scud launchers.
