Hobby Boss 1/72 Military - Russian 9A52-2 Smerch-M Rocket Launcher - 82940

The Hobby Boss 1/72 Russian 9A52-2 Smerch-M Rocket Launcher (82940) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Russian 9A52-2 launch vehicle of the 9K58 Smerch 300mm multiple rocket launcher system. Twelve launch tubes sit on an eight wheeled MAZ chassis.

Entering service in the late 1980s, Smerch, meaning whirlwind, is among the heaviest rocket artillery ever fielded and has been upgraded and exported to several armies. A full salvo of twelve rockets can be fired in under forty seconds, covering a wide area with submunitions at ranges far beyond tube artillery. Smerch systems have been used by Russia and by export customers, and the launcher served as the basis for later rocket systems. Its long tube pack makes a dramatic display model.
