About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/35 PLA Type 59 Medium Tank (84548) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Chinese Type 59, the Cold War medium tank licence built from the Soviet T-54A for the People's Liberation Army.
Produced from the late 1950s in very large numbers, the Type 59 served China for decades and was exported to conflicts across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Factory 617 at Baotou began building the Type 59 with Soviet assistance, and the tank went on to equip the People's Liberation Army in very large numbers. Type 59s served in conflicts in Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa, and many armies kept them in service for decades. As the starting point of the family, it makes a natural partner for the 59-1 (84542) and 59-2 (84540) kits.
