About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/35 PLA Type 59-1 Medium Tank (84542) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Chinese Type 59-1, an improved Cold War version of the People's Liberation Army Type 59 medium tank.
Built in enormous numbers, the Type 59 was progressively upgraded with better equipment and fire control, keeping it relevant long after its Soviet ancestor had become dated, and derivatives were widely exported. Thousands of Type 59 tanks were built at Factory 617 in Baotou, making it the most numerous tank in Chinese service for many years. Pakistan, North Korea, Vietnam and several other countries received Type 59s, and many remained in service into the 21st century. Chinese green or multi colour PLA camouflage gives this model a distinctive look among Cold War tanks.
