About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/72 P-39N Airacobra (80234) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Bell P-39N Airacobra, an American single seat fighter of the Second World War. The Airacobra's engine sat behind the pilot, unusual for its time.
This layout made room for a 37mm cannon firing through the propeller hub and a tricycle undercarriage, and pilots entered through car style doors. Thousands of Airacobras went to the Soviet Union under Lend Lease, where aces such as Alexander Pokryshkin flew them with great success. In American and British service it was disappointing at altitude because it lacked a turbosupercharger, yet at low level over the Eastern Front it proved an outstanding fighter.
