About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/48 P-61C Black Widow (81732) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Northrop P-61C, the final, turbosupercharged version of the American radar night fighter of the Second World War.
The P-61C was the final and fastest production variant of Northrop's twin boom night fighter, fitted with turbosupercharged R-2800 engines, and this kit reproduces it in quarter scale. Only a few dozen C models were completed before the war ended, and one survivor, 'Moonlight Serenade', is preserved at the National Museum of the US Air Force. The C model's turbosupercharged engines raised top speed to around 430 mph, and it introduced perforated airbrakes on the wings. The type was retired soon after the war, replaced by jet night fighters such as the F-94.
