Hobby Boss 1/48 Aircraft - Northrop P-61A Black Widow - 81730

The Hobby Boss 1/48 P-61A Black Widow (81730) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Northrop P-61A, the American twin engined radar night fighter of the Second World War.

Northrop's P-61 was the first American aircraft designed from the outset as a radar equipped night fighter, and this kit captures the early production version. Its twin booms, central nacelle and powerful cannon armament made it a formidable hunter over Europe and the Pacific from 1944. The P-61A carried four 20mm cannon in the belly and an SCR-720 radar in the nose, with a crew of pilot, gunner and radar operator. Many P-61As were delivered without the dorsal turret because of buffeting problems.
