About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/72 F8F-2 Bearcat (87269) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, the US Navy's last piston engined carrier fighter of the late 1940s.
Grumman's F8F Bearcat was a small, powerful fighter built around the largest possible engine, and this kit depicts the improved post war version. The F8F-2 added a taller fin and rudder, a redesigned cowling and four 20mm cannon, and it served with US Navy squadrons until jets took over in the early 1950s. The F8F-2 was also supplied to France for use in Indochina and to Thailand. After retirement, surplus Bearcats became famous as racing aircraft, with Rare Bear setting a piston engined speed record.
