Hobby Boss 1/72 Aircraft - Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat - 80278

The Hobby Boss 1/72 F-14D Super Tomcat (80278) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Grumman F-14D, the final and most advanced version of the US Navy's swing wing carrier fighter.

The F-14D was the last and most capable Tomcat, combining new General Electric F110 engines with digital avionics and an improved radar, and this kit models it in a manageable size. The Super Tomcat served until 2006, when VF-31 flew the final US Navy Tomcat cruise. Only 37 new build F-14Ds were produced, plus a number of rebuilt F-14As. In its final years the Tomcat was also used as a precision strike aircraft, earning the nickname Bombcat.
