About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/35 German VK 30.01(P) (83891) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the VK 30.01(P), Ferdinand Porsche's experimental German medium tank of the early Second World War. It is a rare subject for collectors of prototype panzers.
Also known as the Typ 100 or Leopard, it used petrol electric drive and longitudinal torsion bars, ideas Porsche carried into the VK 45.01(P) Tiger contender and later the Elefant. Porsche's ideas were technically ambitious but suffered from reliability problems, and Henschel's competing designs were preferred for production. Even so, the petrol electric drive reappeared in the Elefant tank destroyer and the Maus. The VK 30.01(P) makes an intriguing addition to a collection of German prototypes and pairs neatly with 1/35 Tiger and Elefant kits.
