Hobby Boss 1/48 Military - German Panzerbeobachtungswagen Panther Ausf.A - 84831

The Hobby Boss 1/48 German PzBeobWg Panther Ausf.A (84831) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Panzerbeobachtungswagen Panther, a German Second World War artillery observation vehicle built on the Panther Ausf.A tank.

Only a small number were converted. The main gun was replaced by a dummy barrel to free space for a rangefinder and radio equipment, so the vehicle could direct artillery fire while looking like an ordinary Panther. These observation tanks served with the artillery units of Panzer divisions, allowing forward observers to keep up with the tanks while staying protected. They are a rare and interesting subject for a Panther collection, and display well next to a standard Panther to show the differences.
