About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/35 German 12.8 cm Flak 40 (84545) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the German Second World War 12.8 cm Flak 40, the largest heavy anti aircraft gun in widespread German service.
Too heavy for normal towing, the Flak 40 was mostly emplaced at fixed sites, on the flak towers of Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna, and on railway mounts to engage high flying bombers. Developed by Rheinmetall, the Flak 40 fired a heavy shell to great altitude and was one of the most powerful anti aircraft guns of the war. Twin mountings known as the Flakzwilling were installed on the large concrete flak towers, which also protected civilians sheltering inside. Adding 1/35 gun crew figures brings a battery position to life.
