About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/35 Fieseler Fi 156 C-3 Skiplane (80183) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the German Second World War Fieseler Fi 156 C-3 Storch liaison and reconnaissance aircraft, fitted with skis for operating from snow.
The Storch could take off and land in remarkably short distances, and the Luftwaffe used it for liaison, observation and casualty evacuation on every front, including the Eastern Front in winter. Designed in the 1930s by Fieseler, the Fi 156 had long legged landing gear, slotted wings and fixed leading edge slats that let it fly at very low speeds. Generals including Rommel used the Storch as a personal transport, and in 1943 one famously landed on a mountain top during the rescue of Mussolini. Ski equipped aircraft made winter operations possible in Russia and Norway.
