About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair (80383) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Vought F4U-1A Corsair, an American Second World War gull winged fighter flown by the US Navy and Marine Corps.
The F4U-1A introduced a raised, framed canopy that improved the pilot's view over the long nose, and Marine squadrons flying it from Pacific island bases from 1943 built a formidable combat record. Powered by the Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp, the Corsair was one of the fastest fighters of its time, and its bent wing shape gave enough ground clearance for its large propeller. Japanese pilots came to respect it, and it earned a reputation as one of the finest fighters of the Pacific war.
