Hobby Boss 1/72 Aircraft - F4F-4 Wildcat - 80220

The Hobby Boss 1/72 F4F-4 Wildcat (80220) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, the US Navy and Marine Corps carrier based fighter of the Second World War. It is a compact, affordable 1/72 kit.

The F4F-4 introduced folding wings and six .50 calibre machine guns. Though outperformed by the Japanese Zero, the tough Wildcat and its pilots held the line through 1942 at Coral Sea, Midway and Guadalcanal, and the Royal Navy flew it as the Martlet. Its sturdy construction let it absorb heavy damage, and Navy pilots developed team tactics such as the Thach Weave to counter the more agile Zero.
