Hobby Boss 1/48 Aircraft - Chinese PLAAF J-5 Fighter - 80335

The Hobby Boss 1/48 PLAAF J-5 (80335) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Shenyang J-5, the Chinese licence built MiG-17F jet fighter of the Cold War.

This kit models the Shenyang J-5, China's licence built version of the Soviet MiG-17F. Production began at Shenyang in the mid 1950s, making it the first jet fighter manufactured in China, and it served the People's Liberation Army Air Force and Navy for decades as well as being exported to several allies. Its swept wing, afterburning engine and heavy cannon armament made it a capable day fighter, and Chinese J-5s saw combat over the Taiwan Strait in the late 1950s. The design also formed the basis of the JJ-5 two seat trainer.
