About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/72 A-7B Corsair II (87202) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the Vought A-7B Corsair II, a US Navy carrier based light attack jet of the Vietnam War era. It comes with clear parts and a waterslide decal sheet.
Developed from the F-8 Crusader to replace the A-4 Skyhawk, the Corsair II carried heavy bomb loads over long range. The A-7B, with its uprated TF30 engine, flew combat missions over Vietnam and later served with Naval Reserve squadrons. The A-7B entered service in the late 1960s and flew many combat sorties from carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Its stubby fuselage, large chin intake and long range made it a natural successor to the Skyhawk in the attack role. Displayed beside the smaller A-4, it shows how carrier aviation evolved.
