About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/72 A-4M Skyhawk II (87256) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the McDonnell Douglas A-4M Skyhawk II, the final Skyhawk built for the US Marine Corps. Two Marine squadron options are included.
The A-4M had a more powerful engine, a larger canopy and a squared off fin for close support from short airfields, serving the Marines from the early 1970s until the late 1990s. Marine A-4M squadrons trained to operate from short expeditionary airfields close to the troops they supported. The A-4M added a head up display and a braking parachute, and Marine Skyhawks remained in reserve service until 1998. Its successor in the light attack role was the AV-8B Harrier II, a fitting companion model.
