About this kit
The Hobby Boss 1/72 A-4F Skyhawk (87255) is an injection moulded plastic model kit of the McDonnell Douglas A-4F Skyhawk, the last Skyhawk variant built for US Navy attack squadrons. It offers three Vietnam era squadron options.
Nicknamed Heinemann's Hot Rod, the compact Skyhawk was cheap, tough and agile. A-4Fs flew from carriers over Vietnam and later equipped the Blue Angels display team. The Skyhawk's small delta wing needed no folding mechanism to fit on carrier lifts, and its light weight made it highly manoeuvrable. A-4F squadrons flew some of the most intense carrier operations of the Vietnam War, and the type remained popular with Navy aggressor and display units long after it left frontline attack squadrons.
