About this kit
The Sd.Kfz.171 Panther Ausf.F was the final planned production version of Germany's classic medium tank, developed in 1944-45 to counter growing Allied firepower. Its defining feature was the new "Schmalturm" (narrow turret), a redesigned low-silhouette turret with a smaller frontal area, thicker sloped armour, and a monocular gunsight mounted in the roof rather than the vulnerable mantlet-mounted optics of earlier Panthers. Only a handful of hulls and turrets were completed before Allied forces overran the factories, making the Ausf.F one of the rarest and most sought-after Panther variants among armour historians.
Dragon's 1/72 scale rendition faithfully reproduces the distinctive Schmalturm profile, retaining the long 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 gun with a slide-moulded hollow muzzle for a crisp, authentic look even at this compact scale. Fine weld-seam texture, correctly shaped glacis and driver's visor, and detailed running gear give the small model surprising depth and accuracy.
The kit includes injection-moulded track runs, clear periscope parts and a decal sheet for authentic late-war Wehrmacht markings, letting builders complete a display-ready model without hunting for aftermarket parts.
This is a great pick for Eastern Front and late-WWII German armour collectors who want the ultra-rare Ausf.F represented in a shelf-friendly 1/72 footprint alongside a wider Panzer collection.
