About this kit
The M103 was the last operational heavy tank fielded by the United States, developed in the early 1950s to counter Soviet IS-3 heavy tanks with a powerful 120mm M58 gun capable of knocking out any contemporary armour at long range. The M103A2 variant, adopted primarily by the US Marine Corps, replaced the original petrol engine with a more reliable diesel powerplant and improved fire-control equipment, and the type served as a mobile long-range gun platform into the early 1970s before being superseded by the M60A1.
Dragon's 1/72 scale interpretation distils this imposing 55-ton vehicle into a compact, crisply engineered kit, using slide-mould technology to render the distinctive cast turret, bore-evacuator-equipped 120mm barrel and hull stowage racks with fine, accurate detail despite the small scale.
The kit includes a full sprue of finely moulded parts along with a decal sheet for authentic USMC markings, letting builders complete an accurate representation of this rare Cold War heavy tank without the bulk of a larger-scale project.
A great choice for collectors building a fleet of 1/72 Cold War armour or anyone wanting an unusual, historically significant subject rarely offered by other manufacturers.
