About this kit
The Long Range Desert Group was the British and Commonwealth reconnaissance and raiding force that ranged deep behind Axis lines in the North African desert, using stripped-down, heavily modified trucks loaded with fuel, water, navigation gear and machine guns to strike airfields and supply routes hundreds of miles from friendly territory.
This 1/72 Dragon kit depicts one of the Group's classic desert patrol cars, armed with a Lewis machine gun on a pintle mount and fitted out with the sand channels, jerry cans, condenser tins and stowage that were the hallmark of LRDG vehicles adapted for long-range desert survival.
Despite the small scale, the kit captures the improvised, heavily-laden look of an LRDG patrol vehicle, with crisply moulded stowage and equipment detail and decals for desert camouflage markings.
An excellent subject for modellers building a North African desert campaign scene or wanting a change of pace from conventional armour in their 1/72 WWII collection.
