About this kit
The Sd.Kfz.251/23 was a late-war attempt to give German panzergrenadier reconnaissance units a half-track with real anti-armour punch, fitting the turret from the Sd.Kfz.234/2 "Puma" armoured car - complete with its 2cm KwK38 automatic cannon - onto the open rear compartment of a standard Ausf.D "Hanomag" hull. Produced only in very limited numbers during 1944-45, it combined the mobility of the half-track chassis with a rotating, armoured gun position for reconnaissance screening and light fire support.
Dragon's kit reproduces the definitive Ausf.D half-track hull, with its simplified, slab-sided construction for faster wartime production, alongside a fully detailed Puma-pattern turret and 2cm gun. Individual track links and detailed road wheels capture the running gear, while the turret ring and traverse mechanism are engineered for accurate positioning.
The kit includes decals for late-war unit markings and a complete instruction manual, with photo-etched parts adding fine detail to stowage and turret fittings.
This scarce variant is a standout subject for collectors seeking something beyond the standard half-track line-up, ideal for a late-war Eastern or Western Front reconnaissance diorama.
