About this kit
The Sd.Kfz. 234 series was Germany's most advanced wheeled reconnaissance vehicle of the Second World War, an 8x8 heavy armoured car built by Büssing-NAG with a fully independent suspension and a powerful Tatra diesel engine that gave it exceptional range and cross-country mobility. This boxing depicts the variant armed with the fast-firing 2cm cannon in an open-topped turret, a configuration used by German reconnaissance and reconnaissance-support units on the Western and Eastern Fronts from 1944 into the final months of the war, where its combination of speed, armour and firepower made it a valuable scouting and screening asset.
Dragon's kit reproduces the distinctive slab-sided monocoque hull using slide-mould technology, capturing the compound curves of the armoured body, the louvred engine deck and the eight independently sprung wheel stations in crisp, finely scaled detail. The open turret is rendered with a detailed 2cm gun and mount, and the kit includes the vehicle's characteristic split circular hatches and vision ports.
The kit includes a full set of decals and markings options plus a comprehensive instruction manual covering assembly of the running gear, hull and turret. As with other kits in Dragon's 1/35 armour range, careful trimming and cementing of the multi-part sprues is needed to achieve the finished model.
This is a rewarding build for modellers with some prior kit experience who want an accurate, characterful late-war German armoured car for a display shelf or a Normandy-to-Berlin diorama setting.
