About this kit
The Panzerbefehlswagen Panther was the command-tank version of Germany's formidable medium tank, adapted to carry the additional radio sets, map tables and aerial fittings that unit and battalion commanders needed to control their formations in action. To make room for the extra communications equipment, ammunition stowage was reduced, and while the tank retained its full armament and armour protection for self-defence, its primary role was command and control rather than leading the charge.
This Dragon release depicts the command Panther finished with zimmerit, the ridged anti-magnetic-mine paste applied to German armour through most of 1943 and into September 1944, and reproduced here as fine moulded texture across the hull and turret rather than a decal or applied compound. Slide-mould parts capture the Panther's sloped glacis plate, the distinctive turret shape, and the additional stowage and aerial bases specific to the command variant.
The kit includes individual track links, photo-etched mesh and detail parts, and decals covering the command-tank markings used by Panzer unit headquarters, along with full instructions.
A strong pick for collectors wanting a Panther variant with genuine historical distinction, or as the command vehicle centrepiece of a wider Panzer-Abteilung diorama.
