About this kit
The Tiger I entered service in 1942, and this early-production version captures the tank in its original configuration: overlapping rubber-tyred road wheels, cylindrical smoke-grenade dischargers on the turret sides, and the earlier commander's cupola design. Early Tigers were rushed into action in small numbers on the Leningrad front and later fought in Tunisia with heavy tank battalions such as schwere Panzer-Abteilung 501, where their thick frontal armour and long 8.8cm gun outclassed almost everything the Allies could field.
Dragon reproduces the early hull and turret details faithfully, including the correct early-pattern road wheels, cupola and turret stowage, giving a noticeably different silhouette from the later, simplified production Tigers. Slide-moulded parts provide a crisp hollow gun barrel, and the running gear is broken down to capture the multi-wheel overlapping suspension accurately.
The kit is supplied with track links, decals and the detail parts needed to build a historically correct early-production Tiger, distinct from mid- and late-war variants.
A must for early-war German heavy armour enthusiasts and for anyone building a Tunisia or early Eastern Front diorama who wants the correct, earliest Tiger I appearance.
