About this kit
By late 1944 the Tiger I had evolved considerably from its 1942 debut: this late-production variant features the simplified, all-steel road wheels adopted to save rubber, a monobloc (one-piece) main gun barrel, and the revised commander's cupola fitted to late-war chassis. Tigers of this configuration fought in the desperate defensive battles of Normandy, the retreat across France, and the winter fighting on both the Western and Eastern Fronts, remaining a feared opponent for Allied tank crews right up to the end of the war.
Dragon's kit reproduces these late-production features accurately, including the correct road wheel pattern, the revised turret fittings and exhaust arrangement, and the option to add or omit Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste texture depending on the specific vehicle and date being modelled. Slide-mould technology delivers a crisp hollow 8.8cm KwK36 barrel and finely detailed hull and turret castings.
The kit includes track links, decals for late-war Tiger units and the detail parts needed to build an accurate, specific late-production example rather than a generic "any-Tiger" model.
A strong choice for modellers wanting the definitive late-war Tiger I silhouette, and a natural companion piece to an early-production Tiger for a side-by-side comparison build.
