About this kit
The Königstiger (King Tiger), officially Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf.B Tiger II, was the heaviest operational tank fielded by any nation in the Second World War, combining the sloped armour philosophy of the Panther with armour up to 150mm thick and the devastating 8.8cm KwK 43 L/71 gun capable of destroying Allied tanks at ranges beyond which they could effectively reply. This kit represents a late-production example, built with the simplified Henschel turret, the reduced eight steel-rimmed road wheels per side (down from the earlier nine rubber-rimmed pattern) introduced to ease chronic wartime material shortages, and factory-applied Zimmerit paste texture.
Dragon's engineering brings the King Tiger's massive, angular hull and turret to life through slide-mould construction that captures the thick, sharply sloped armour plates and the long 8.8cm barrel as a single, hollow-tipped moulding without the usual multi-part barrel seams. Individual track link assemblies reproduce the vehicle's wide tracks needed to keep its 70-tonne bulk mobile.
Decals and a full instruction manual are supplied, covering late-war unit markings for this production variant.
An imposing, iconic subject and a centrepiece for any German late-war armour collection, this kit rewards builders with one of the most recognisable tank silhouettes of the entire conflict.
