About this kit
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I was Germany's first purpose-built heavy tank, entering combat in late 1942 with its 8.8cm KwK 36 gun and up to 100mm of frontal armour making it, for a time, effectively immune to the tank and anti-tank guns fielded by the Allies. This release depicts an early-production Tiger, distinguished by features such as the smooth cast commander's cupola, twin headlamps and the S-mine launcher tubes fitted to the hull sides before combat experience led to their removal.
Dragon's Tiger I tooling is among the most refined in its range, using slide-mould technology to capture the tank's flat, slab-sided armour plates, exposed exhaust mufflers and the overlapping road wheel arrangement that gave the vehicle its famously smooth ride but notorious maintenance headaches, particularly in the winter mud and snow of the Eastern Front.
The kit includes individual track links, full road wheel sets, turret stowage bins and decal options covering early-war unit markings, giving builders everything needed for an accurate first-generation Tiger.
As the debut version of one of the war's most feared and iconic tanks, this early-production Tiger I is a natural centrepiece for any German heavy armour collection.
