Dragon 1/35 Military - 1/35 Panther D W/Stadtgas Fuel Tank - D6881

Germany's worsening fuel situation late in the war led to a range of improvised measures to keep vehicles running, including conversion of some Panther tanks to burn "Stadtgas" (town/producer gas) as a substitute for scarce petrol. This release depicts a Panther Ausf.D fitted with the large cylindrical gas storage tank associated with these field modifications, mounted externally on the rear hull.

Dragon's Panther D hull and turret are reproduced with slide-mould technology, capturing the vehicle's sloped glacis, long 7.5cm KwK 42 gun and early "letterbox" driver's visor, while the kit adds the distinctive Stadtgas tank and associated fittings as a unique variant option not found on a standard Panther D release.

Individual workable track links, road wheels and turret stowage are included, together with decal options for German markings appropriate to the vehicle.

A genuinely unusual variant born of wartime necessity, this kit gives Panther collectors and diorama builders a talking-point alternative to the more familiar combat-standard Ausf.D.
