About this kit
The Panzer IV Ausf.E was an interim up-armoured version of Germany's most numerous tank, introduced in 1940-41 with appliqué armour plates bolted to the nose and superstructure, a redesigned commander's cupola and a distinctive convoy light, seeing action from the Battle of France through the opening months of Operation Barbarossa.
Dragon markets this release as a "3 in 1" kit, supplying the parts options needed to build the Ausf.E in more than one production configuration straight from a single box, reflecting the running production changes made to hull fittings, turret stowage bins and vision equipment during the type's short manufacturing run. Slide-mould tooling reproduces the welded hull seams, bolted armour plates and the short-barrelled 7.5cm KwK 37 gun with crisp, engraved detail.
Individual track links, turret stowage bins, jack and tools are all included, along with decal options covering different unit markings so builders can choose the specific look of their finished tank.
A good subject for anyone building the early-war Panzerwaffe, the Ausf.E bridges the gap between the lightly armoured pre-war Panzer IVs and the heavily up-gunned later variants that fought on through to 1945.
