About this kit
Known to its crews as the "Stummel" ("stump"), the Sd.Kfz.251/9 mounted the short-barrelled 7.5cm KwK37 L/24 gun, the same low-velocity infantry-support weapon originally fitted to early Panzer IVs, in a simplified open mount on the front of the half-track's fighting compartment. Issued to the heavy company of Panzergrenadier half-track battalions, it gave infantry riding into battle in Sd.Kfz.251s their own integral high-explosive firepower to deal with strongpoints and soft targets without waiting for tank or artillery support.
This Dragon kit reproduces the Ausf.D hull's simplified, slab-sided armour using slide-mould technology, together with the distinctive short-barrelled gun and its light shield, individual track links for the half-track's characteristic running gear, and photo-etched parts for stowage racks and screens.
A decal sheet covering Panzergrenadier unit markings is included, along with full step-by-step instructions.
This compact support half-track makes a great addition to a Panzergrenadier company display or a varied collection of Sd.Kfz.251 family variants.
