As Allied air power came to dominate the skies over the Western and Eastern Fronts in 1944-45, Germany pressed increasing numbers of self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicles into service, including the Sd.Kfz.251/21. Built on the ubiquitous Ausf.D half-track hull, it carried a "Drilling" triple mount of MG151 autocannons, originally an aircraft weapon adapted for ground use, giving mobile Flak protection to armoured columns on the move against low-flying fighter-bombers.
Dragon's kit combines its accurately slide-moulded Ausf.D hull with a detailed Drilling mount, reproducing the triple gun cradle, ammunition feed and gun shields in fine plastic and photo-etched parts, while individual track links complete the running gear.
